The 2026 - 2027 Philanos Board of Directors is both a working and governance board that is comprised of a diverse group of women who represent 20 affiliates around the country.
| Buffy Beaudoin-Schwartz - Women's Giving Circle of Howard County, Columbia, MD"Women’s philanthropy shapes the future for women and girls through the power of collective giving." Buffy serves as Co-Chair for the Communications Committee. She began her career working in international human rights in Washington, DC, was the communications director at the Maryland Philanthropy Network, and is now president of her own firm BBS Consulting, working with foundations, nonprofits and political campaigns. She has come “full circle” by serving as the first executive director of the Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County, having been an original founder 20 years ago, and a past Advisory Board chair. Buffy is a co-author of the award-winning book Women & Philanthropy: Boldly Shaping a Better World with Sondra Shaw-Hardy and Martha Taylor and has participated in the national giving circle movement for over two decades. She’s been named one of Maryland's Top 100 Women in 2003, 2008 and 2010 by The Daily Record, an "Innovator of the Year" in 2004, and honored as one of "40 Under 40" in 2004 by the Baltimore Business Journal. She was an Impact Award Winner in 2012, and is a 2019 inductee in the Women’s Commission of Howard County’s Hall of Fame – all for her work in women’s collective giving. Buffy has served on many boards including the Community Foundation of Howard County and she’s involved in gun violence prevention efforts. She has a BA in Russian history from the University of Maryland. Originally from Newtown, CT, she has lived in Howard County - between Washington, DC and Baltimore - for over 30 years. Buffy and her husband Howard have four children and two granddaughters. |
| Nina Cohen - Impact100 South Jersey, Haddonfield, NJCollective giving affords me the opportunity to connect with and learn from women who like me are committed to transforming our community. so that all may thrive. Nina serves as Co-Chair for the Strategic Partnerships & Development Committe. She was a founding member and served on the Leadership Council of Impact100 South Jersey. Leveraging her expertise, she helped set up the criteria for the initial financial review process grants, create a sponsorship program to keep member funds fully committed to grants and to educate businesses in the area about Impact100, and has been a key voice in setting the organization’s strategy and advancing its DEI efforts. Professionally, Nina serves as the Chief Impact & Inclusion Officer for Glenmede, a boutique wealth and investment management firm. She leads the firm’s strategies to foster an inclusive culture and equitable workplace. In addition, she advises multigenerational families on their philanthropy. She currently serves as Chair of the Board of Exponent Philanthropy and serves on the Advisory Council of Jewish Family and Children's Service of Southern NJ and Daylight Advisors. Previously, Nina practiced estates and trust law, with an emphasis on charitable gift planning and estate planning for parents of children with disabilities. Nina received her BSW from Temple University and her J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School. Nina and her husband live in Cherry Hill, NJ. They enjoy traveling near and far to visit their six children and fourteen grandchildren. |
| Stephanie Cook - San Diego Women's Foundation, San Diego, CA“Collective giving organizations have the power to challenge the philanthropic norms and create authentic and trust-based relationships with nonprofit organizations in service of our community.” Stephanie has a background in critical race and gender studies, and spent her academic career studying the transformative power of women's movements around the globe. As the executive director of The San Diego Women's Foundation (SDWF), she works with a community of changemakers and oversees SDWF's strategic direction and mission to connect, educate and inspire women to come together in collective philanthropy. Before accepting her role at SDWF, Stephanie worked and volunteered with a variety of nonprofit organizations working on women’s empowerment and social justice issues where she utilized her skills in educational programming, social media management and content creation, member recruitment and engagement strategies, and developing corporate partnerships. Stephanie is a proud member of the San Diego Women’s Foundation, and in addition she serves as board member and treasurer for the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of San Diego and is a member of Girl Scouts San Diego’s Leadership Advisory Bureau. |
| Michelle Cottrell - Women's Impact Fund, NC“Collective Giving means the opportunity to learn about social issues, great nonprofits in my local community and to give generously with other members in order to provide larger grants.” Michelle serves as Co-Chair for the Affiliate Engagement Committe. She is a past board member of the Women's Impact Fund where she served as membership chair and at large directoras well as on the member education, community impact, and grants committees, and the diversity and inclusion taskforce. She is also an active member of Social Venture Partners Charlotte. Her work unlocks generosity by supporting growing nonprofits with generosity operation and working iwth indiivdual donors as a philanthropy advisor (IPA). Prior to consulting, she was in sales, marketing strategy, and programs at Salesforce and the Corporate Executive Board including several years in Sydney covering the APAC region. She has a MSc in Economic and Consumer Psychology from the University of Exeter (UK) and a BA in psychology with business from Randolph Macon Woman's College. |
| Renee Gordon - Baltimore Women's Giving Circle, Baltimore, MD"Collective giving allows women to deepen their philanthropic impact in their communities through their investments in nonprofits working to effect positive change Renee serves as Secretary for Philanos. She is Co-Chair of the Baltimore Women’s Giving Circle, and past Co-Chair of the Post-Grants and Communications Committees. She also serves as the webmaster for the Circle’s website. Originally from California, Renee has lived in Baltimore with her husband for over 30 years. She has one adult son who is disabled. Renee received her B.A. from UCLA and her J.D. from the University of San Francisco. She began her legal career in California doing securities work and commercial aviation transactions. After moving to Baltimore, Renee served as an attorney for the US Small Business Administration’s Small Business Investment program, a niche venture capital program providing funds to businesses in under-served areas. Renee has served on the boards of several local nonprofit organizations working with homeless youth, women, and children. Renee has also been active in the disability community, serving on the boards of several nonprofit organizations working with disabled individuals. In 2015, Gov. Hogan appointed Renee to serve on the Maryland Able Task Force. She and her husband have been featured on Ted Koppel’s Nightline, NPR, and Maryland Public Television for their work in raising a non-verbal child with autism. Renee has also led webinars and spoken to media groups across the country and to a Congressional committee about the challenges of raising a non-verbal child with autism. |
| Tracey Greene-Washington - Women's Impact Fund, Charlotte, NC"There is a power in collective giving that is undeniable, and it serves as a critical lever in the philanthropic ecosystem -in this moment and every future moment - that has the power to galvanize energy, momentum and transformational impact through strategic investments, courageous conversations, building intentional networks and systems change towards driving, leading, and working on the cutting edge of transformational impact - locally, regionally, nationally, and globally." Tracey serves as Co-Chair for the Education Committe. She is a member of CoThinkk, NC. With more than 25 years of experience across philanthropic, nonprofit, and business sectors, Tracey helps leaders move from vision to execution. Her work integrates change leadership, organizational development, and futurism to help organizations navigate complexity and achieve sustainable impact. Prior to founding Indigo Innovation Group, she held key leadership roles in philanthropy and community development. She served as Director of Special Initiatives at the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, leading major place-based initiatives focused on rural health and early childhood outcomes. She also held roles with the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, the National Rural Funders Collaborative, and the South Carolina Association of Community Development Corporations, advancing statewide and national efforts in economic equity and community transformation. Tracey is also Founder of CoThinkk, a social change philanthropy advancing economic mobility and leadership in communities of color, and co-owner of No Grease Northlake and No Grease Premium. A TEDx speaker and award-winning author, her work centers on guiding leaders through the “messy middle” of transformation with clarity, courage, and purpose. |
| Michelle Hynes - ninety-nine girlfriends, Portland, OR"Collective giving opens up new worlds of contribution, learning and connection." Michelle serves as Co-Chair of the Education Committee. She is a founding member of ninety-nine girlfriends, an 8-year-old, all-volunteer regional women's giving collective that has raised and re-granted more than $3 million to date. She has served as the Co-Chair of ninety-nine girlfriends’ Grants Committee, and currently serves on the Membership Committee. She was part of the Program Committee for PowerUP! In 2020 (Seattle) and 2023 (Baltimore), and also joined the Philanos Education Committee in 2023. Michelle’s professional background is in K-12 education and lifelong learning, with a particular interest in early literacy. Her experience includes nearly 30 years as a nonprofit executive, consultant, board member, and volunteer. She is a skilled meeting facilitator, program developer, and certified coach who loves to help leaders navigate from what is to what’s possible. Michelle’s formal education includes a Master’s in Education from University of Pennsylvania, a certificate from the Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, and a certificate in Strategic Organizational Management from Portland State University. She is a graduate of New Ventures West’s year-long Professional Coaching Course. |
| Nikki Jarrell - Women's Impact Fund, Charlotte, NC”By working together, collective giving creates a “multiplier effect” resulting in an impact to our communities that far exceeds what we can achieve individually." Nikki serves on the Governance Committe. She is a member of the Women’s Impact Fund, where she has been honored
to serve the organization as Board Chair, Treasurer, and Audit Chair. Nikki has
also served as a member of multiple committees including Governance, Finance,
Community Impact, and Membership as well as a member of the Grants, Strategic
Planning, and Diversity and Inclusion Task Forces. |
| Ami Kane, MPA, CFRE- Impact Austin, Austin, TX"To me, collaboration is everything. Through collective giving, I can help meet critical community needs, in partnership with others, who bring diverse lived-experiences!” Ami serves on the Strategic Partnerships & Development Committe. She is a nonprofit professional, activist, film producer, cat mom, auntie, fundraiser, and philanthropist. She is a proud Hoosier turned Texan, originally from Indianapolis, IN, which is where her passion for servant leadership and community involvement began. Since 2009 Ami has called Austin, TX home and since 2025, she has served as Chief Development Officer at Forest Stewards Guild. In that capacity, she mobilizes funds to forge a healthy future for people and forests, nationwide. Prior to this role, Ami was on staff for 15 years with Girls Empowerment Network, where she worked on gender justice initiatives for youth, most recently serving as CEO. Ami earned her BA in Political Science, Psychology, and Gender Studies at Butler University and completed a Masters of Public Affairs, Nonprofit Management, at Indiana University shortly after. She serves on the boards of Impact Austin, Central Texas’ largest women-focused collective giving circle, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Austin Chapter. In 2019, she earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive credential. She was named an Austin Under 40 nonprofit service finalist in 2017, the 2023 Outstanding Fundraising Professional of the Year by AFP, and the 2024 Core Values Member of the Year in Impact Austin. When she’s not working or volunteering, Ami can be found cuddling her 3 black cats or supporting her partner's indie film production company, Short Pictures Independent. |
| Becky MacDonald - Nevada Women's Philanthropy, NV"I believe in the power of collective giving because when individuals come together with shared purpose, generosity becomes something greater than the sum of its parts, transforming not just communities, but the people who choose to invest in them." Becky serves as the Treasurer for Philanos. She is the founder of MacDonald Wealth Associates and a Wealth Advisor at Ashton Thomas Private Wealth, where she advises individuals, families, and philanthropic organizations at the intersection of capital, purpose, and governance. With more than two decades of experience, she brings deep expertise in nonprofit endowments, investment strategy, and donor stewardship. Her work reflects a disciplined, long-term approach to capital markets, grounded in the belief that financial decisions are most effective when aligned with mission, values, and human dynamics. Becky has advised community foundations, nonprofit boards, and multigenerational families, often serving as a trusted partner during periods of transition, growth, and complexity. An active philanthropic leader, Becky serves as President of Nevada Women’s Philanthropy, where she has been a member for over a decade and previously held leadership roles including Treasurer and Vice President. She is also a board member of the Zion Forever Project and serves on the Development Committee for Nevada Ballet Theatre. Through her role on the Philanos board, Becky brings a national perspective on collective giving and strategic philanthropy. She is passionate about strengthening nonprofit governance, advancing the impact of giving circles, and aligning financial strategy with long-term mission outcomes. Becky lives in Las Vegas with her family and enjoys hiking, backpacking, and travel, drawing inspiration from these experiences to inform her perspective on leadership, legacy, and purposeful living. |
| Ann Marie McGee - Impact 100 Redwood Circle, Santa Rosa, CA“Collective giving expands and diversifies philanthropy to strengthen and serve our communities where it is needed most.” Ann Marie McGee serves as Co-Chair of the Philanos Communications Committee and is immediate past Board Co-Chair of Philanos, helping to advance the organization’s role as a national network supporting women’s collective giving. After moving to Sonoma County in 2017, she joined Philanos Affiliate Impact 100 Redwood Circle to deepen her engagement with nonprofits in the North Bay and quickly embraced the power of collective giving to strengthen local communities. Ann Marie is an active community leader and nonprofit board member. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Santa Rosa Symphony Board and currently Chairs the Donor Relations Committee, where she focuses on building meaningful donor engagement and advancing philanthropic support for the arts. She is also a member of the Impact 100 Redwood Circle Membership Committee. Nationally, she recently completed a four-year term as an elected volunteer leader for Tri Delta, serving on the Leadership Cultivation and Selection Committee (2022–2026), responsible for slating the Executive, Foundation, and Housing Boards. Her prior nonprofit board experience includes Brighter Beginnings, Northern Light School in Oakland, and the Contra Costa Crisis Center in Walnut Creek. She has also served on advisory and advancement committees for the University of Idaho since 2000. Before retiring and relocating to Sonoma County, Ann Marie led her own marketing consulting firm, specializing in branding, messaging, and positioning for startup and early-stage technology companies. Her earlier career included leadership roles in Silicon Valley startups, including GRiD Systems, where she was Marketing Manager for the industry’s first tablet computer. She began her professional journey in music as a performer and educator, teaching at Arkansas State University and Interlochen’s National Music Camp, and performing with the Arkansas Symphony. Ann Marie holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in flute performance from the University of Idaho and the University of Illinois. She lives in Santa Rosa with her husband, Robert. They enjoy exploring food and wine, gardening, traveling, and spending time with their two children and granddaughter. In her free time, Ann Marie enjoys cooking, playing the flute, watercolor painting, tennis, and golf. |
| Clare O'Brien - Impact 100 Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH"Collective giving enables women to grow as philanthropists by providing them with a community of givers, cross-sector relationships, education and opportunities to take wise risks." Clare serves as Immediate Past Co-Chair for Philanos and also Co-Chairs the Strategic Partnership & Development Committee. As an Impact 100 Cincinnati member, She has served as treasurer and grant committee chair. During her business career, Clare held senior leadership roles in marketing and strategy in high technology and financial services companies. In her community, Clare served as Board Chair of May We Help, an innovative nonprofit which makes customized assistive devices for individuals with disabilities; this organization was honored with a Philanos Spotlight award. Clare mentors other women through her participation on the Leadership Team of Stanford Women on Boards, which prepares and places women on nonprofit and corporate boards. Clare holds a BSE in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University and a master's degree in management from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Combining her passions for charitable giving and financial empowerment for all individuals, she earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® designation as a member of a national BIPOC cohort. Clare and her husband are the proud parents of two young adult sons. |
| Susan Palumbo, Impact Austin, TX "I enjoy learning about non-profits in the community that are working on important local issues, meeting like-minded philanthropists to contribute funds for shared purposes, and introducing others to the joy of giving." Susan serves on the Strategic Partnerships & Development Committe. She is a proud member of Impact Austin. After 30 years in Minneapolis, Susan and her husband relocated to Austin in 2014, where she continues advising business owners, relocating executives, and families seeking lifestyle transitions. Her work is rooted in two guiding principles: helping others and a commitment to lifelong learning. Susan partners with families, foundations, and philanthropic entities to align investment strategies with legacy and charitable goals. She brings a disciplined approach to wealth management, supported by deep industry knowledge and ongoing professional development. Susan joined Baird in 2020 from Merrill Lynch/Bank of America. She holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®), and Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) designations. She is also an active member of the Investments & Wealth Institute and serves on the CIMA® Certification Commission, contributing to the standards and ongoing evolution of the credential. A dedicated community leader, Susan has been actively involved in both Austin and Minneapolis–Saint Paul. | Maureen Romito - Impact Las Vegas, Las Vegas, NV"With collective giving, I make a much bigger impact and I am able to see how my donation is being used to improve my community." Maureen is Co-Chair of Philanos and the Governance Committee. She has more than three decades of executive-level human resources experience developing and leading local, regional and corporate HR teams for organizations in a variety of industries. Maureen completed her career as Regional Human Resources Director for a global call center outsourcing company, managing the human resources functions for 7,000 employees located in eight call centers across the US, Canada and Mexico. Following her retirement in 2013, she chose to give back to the community she has called home for 40 years by founding Impact Las Vegas, a Nevada nonprofit women’s collective giving group, where she is currently the volunteer Co-Executive Director. |
| Renuka Sastri - 100 Women Strong at Central Florida Foundation, Orlando, FL"I see collective giving as building community in three important ways: inspiring women to be more strategic in their giving, fostering shared connections across a diversity of backgrounds and interests, and making a larger financial impact than going it alone." Renuka is Co-Chair of Philanos and serves on the Technology and Governance Committees. She is a former Chair of 100 Women Strong, a giving circle at the Central Florida Foundation, and a Board member of StarterStudio, a technology incubator providing founders with the resources they need to build successful companies. Professionally, she develops public, private and institutional partnerships to help tackle Central Florida's unique workforce and economic development challenges. Her approach to collaborative innovation has been honed through extensive experience in strategic planning, governance, and digital transformation in the corporate sector, nonprofit organizations, and, most recently, local government. | Susan Smith - Idaho Women's Charitable Foundation, Boise, ID“Philanthropy is vital to a thriving society. Collective Giving provides the opportunity to inspire and involve more individuals in philanthropy. | Kirsten Stanley - Impact 100 Palm Beach County, West Palm Beach, FL"My ability to transform my community is made exponentially larger than my individual financial contribution." Kirsten serves as Co-Chair for the Affiliate Engagement Committee. She is a past President of both Impact 100 Palm Beach County and the Junior League of Boca Raton (JLBR). She was honored as a Woman of Grace by Bethesda Hospital Foundation, a Warrior in Pink by the Susan G Komen Foundation and as a Woman Volunteer of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient by JLBR. She also won the 2020 Mirror Ball Trophy in the Boca Ballroom Battle benefiting the George Snow Scholarship Fund. Along with her husband Tom, she was honored by the Boys and Girls Club of Delray Beach with a Service Award in 2022. Currently, Kirsten is the President of the Gulf Stream Civic Association, President of the Grass River Garden Club and Recording Secretary of the National Society of Arts and Letters of Florida. Professionally, Kirsten was Director of Operations at Tammy Fender. Prior to that she was Executive Vice President at Meisner Electric and Business Operations Manager at Palm Beach Opera. | Tyeshia "Ty" Wilson - HERitage Giving Fund, Dallas, TX"Collective Giving is important to me because it's people-powered, people-leading, people-centered philanthropy that allows EVERYONE to get involved in doing good and moving resources into our communities where they belong." Tyeshia serves on the Education Committee. She is a millennial, activist-philanthropist, community organizer, trainer, consultant and a sought-after speaker on Black philanthropy, trust-based philanthropy, politics, civic engagement and leadership. As Director of Engagement at Philanthropy Together, she leads the organization’s global engagement strategy connecting and training collective giving leaders, partners, funders and everyday donors on equitable funding practices. Prior to joining Philanthropy Together, Tyeshia worked as the Assistant to the City Manager and Chief of Staff at the City of Dallas where she worked closely with city council members and senior leadership on various community engagement and strategic planning priorities, and spearheaded the creation of the city’s first community engagement program for the department of aviation. Based in Dallas, Texas, Tyeshia has an igniting passion for people, service and empowering the community towards collective action and impact. She is a leader in numerous volunteer organizations focused on advancing equity in philanthropy and strengthening democracy, including Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy, Register HER, Our Vote is Our Voice, and Chair-Elect of HERitage Giving Fund— the first Black giving circle in Texas that invests in Black, women-led nonprofits serving women and girls. She holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington and a M.S. in Public Leadership with a concentration in Nonprofit and Community Leadership from the University of North Texas at Dallas. In 2022, Tyeshia was an honoree on the annual Black Women Give Back List presented by the Women’s Philanthropy Institute, Black Philanthropy Month and The WISE Fund. |
