The Washington Women’s Foundation (WaWF) Grant Notebook
The Washington Women’s Foundation has made available for download the WaWF Grant Notebook, a comprehensive guide that outlines WaWF's six-month ‘curriculum’, a central part of the collective giving model. This guide is a 127-page, step-by-step description of WaWF’s flagship educational program, the Pooled Fund Grant Committee.

WaWF pioneered the concept of large-scale, participatory grantmaking. Since 1996, hundreds of WaWF members have expanded their philanthropic skills and leadership by participating in the Pooled Fund Grant Committee process. More than $6.2 million has been awarded via 70-plus large grants ($50,000-$100,000) to Washington State-based nonprofit organizations. Every year, up to 70 WaWF members participate in the Pooled Fund Grant process.

Continually refined and enhanced over its 18-year history, the WaWF Grant Notebook outlines the six-month curriculum, including the philosophy and best practices that guide the process. This manual provides a detailed description of WaWF’s hands-on grant process, including instruction on research, collaboration, analysis, leadership, and decision-making. In addition, WWF’s tailored training workshops provide valuable information on topics such as 'Evaluating Grant Proposals,' 'Understanding Nonprofit Financial Statements,' and 'Conducting Effective Site Visits.'

The public price for the WaWF Grant Notebook download is $1,000. WCGN Member Organizations are offered a courtesy discounted price of $250. Please understand that purchasing the notebook does not entitle buyers to consulting time with WaWF.

Something Ventured: An Innovative Model in Philanthropy
Out of print but now available for download! In 2002, thanks to a generous grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, WWF published Something Ventured: An Innovative Model in Philanthropy. It outlines the WWF model of collective giving and offers advice and practical resources to help women across the country develop similar organizations of their own. A decade later, this book is still a relevant, inspirational guide to starting a collective giving organization. Something Ventured can be purchased for $25.
